Thanks for letting us know that we're helping! It's really nice to hear that, and it really helps motivate us to keep going.

Learning about milk, how it's produced and what it contains, is what got me looking into veganism years ago.

I used to love dairy and meat but the more I learn about how these animals are treated, the less appealing those foods become. It's surprising how many people are unaware of what goes on before their food ends up on their plate.

A cow only gives 10 months milk after giving birth. So more or less every year they are inpregnated. And what do you think happens to the calfs? Where do you think veal comes from.

A cow doesn't need to give milk, and if she gives milk it is meant for her offspring and not for us.

So consuming milk is saying that it is ok to take a baby away from its mother and killing it in brutal way.

I never thought of this. Sad Now I don't want to drink milk.

To be honest, I was very concerned about your username, but I see that you've already raised your own awareness by going through these threads. We need more people like you!

I loved milk and all its derivatives, but then I found out that you have to separate the cows from their young, which strikes me as being completely wrong. Even on small family farms, they take the newborn calves away within the first 12 hours or so. A dairy cow never gets to nurse her own young. We are not taking the milk that is left over from her calf, we are taking almost all of it. The calves get some combination of formula and the milk that's not OK to sell to humans.

Any farmer who takes only part of the mother's milk will not be able to break even. Also, after her body gets used up from the constant cycle of lactation and pregnancy (often at the same time), she goes to slaughter. These days, that's after an average of four cycles (that is the industry average, I'm sure most small farms do not kill them that quickly)

Take a look at Letter from a Vegan World (Peaceful Prairie)

hi there is some info for you about milk milk contains 90% fat, listeria, bovine growth hormone and is the major cause of diabetes, osteoporosis, and crohns disease also cows have to be contiunesly be pregnant in order to produce milk the calf is ripped away from its mother wich causes phycological trauma for mother and baby if the calf is male it will be raised for veal if it is female it will be raised as another milk machine for human consumption. Cow milk is not meant for humans its for the calf here is a good website www.milksucks.com, www.gotthefactsonmilk.com and also www.suprememastertv.com

Would you please cite the peer reviewed research that confirms the above.

If you check references, that will usually get you to the medical journals. Smile

Milk strengthens the teeth. I love drinking milk, aside that it has a good effect in the skin, it makes my teeth stronger than before. Smile
