We are a professional machine for generating garbage. Not a day goes by without us experiencing some sort of a dumpster catharsis of the worthless, reserved for those we underestimate as hierarchically worthless, and all it takes is a single strike of the garbage collectors for power redistribution, when suddenly the powerless receive incredible social power to paralyze the city and the garbage to be transformed in some kind of Godzilla in front of the pale face of survival. However, it goes for the cities which like getting lost in Armageddon readings. Skopje does not get blocked so easily. Skopje makes a career of its garbage! The fact that no Mayor so far has managed to change the suspicious trademark of the city, has a lucid ring to it that their municipal offices are a possible ground for nourishing a latent decade cult towards Indian landfills (and they swore they were chanting about the Paris cubes?!). The explicit city symbol makes it even to the eighty year old man with a cataract laser sharp clear that even the tricks of Photoshop are powerless to visually embalm it into a decent postcard (which we have not been able to print for years now); strangely yet (maybe due to being overdosed) we have a serious psychiatric problem of identifying the garbage.

Aid prostheses for redefinition arrive from the Mayor’s cabinet. Forget about all previous phrasings. From today, your city garbage has four legs, two eyes and one beastly snout. Install new indoctrinating software and enjoy: Skopje is perfectly Switzerland- like clean city, does not have a sanitary status of a public toilet (which, by the way, does not exist, as there are open-roof stations for urinary sedimentation on the Bank) by the river which is not fluorescent and does not have second hand check-points with mini stoves and five tones of inorganic, not recycled garbage. Therapy? Call an army of dog-catchers! It sounds confusing, if you click on the most twisted option in Google Translate, you may be able to translate that whenever the Mayor calls: for cleaning Skopje, he means: killing (euthanasia) of homeless dogs! What kind of movies was he watching while growing up?

During the last few months, homeless dogs have magically been disappearing from the city streets and have been brutally transported to the staging area “Vardarishte” (many of them end up in other unidentified locations), where officially 60 percent, and unofficially 90 percent, of them are killed! A brilliant aesthetic project of the city authorities under the direct influence of Cannibal Lector! Cover your children’s eyes and try to explain to them in technical terms that the streets are being “cleaned” of the “garbage”! Maybe the cleaning seems like a logical repercussion of a causal relationship (if the dogs are under the jurisdiction of the Public Utility Company “Javna Higiena” (“Public Hygiene”) , they will be treated as such), but it does not justify the fact that it is a sick environment which allows a systematic “cleaning” of a (living) being as a (dead) object! It is a sick city which “cleans” the streets by hunting and killing. That it, unless the butchers’ slang has become official in the area which continually brags about ferocious writings of purges of the unorthodox, dissidents, heretics, transitional, traitors… Too much Nazi vocabulary for the 21st century.

Forget about dogs having a nervous system (feeling pain) and having the right to live! Are we at all able to react to a murder not punishable by a prison sentence? Or, when it is not legally punishable, are we able to pardon even the most deplorable bestiality? Fist charge: the staging area “Vardarishte”. Second charge: poisoning as a favorite neighborhood sport. Third charge: What are you having for dinner tonight? The question is addressed to Human Blvd., no number. Get it? It is the same enthusiastic “fool” who reacts to the death of another. It is difficult to emotionally experience the death of an animal when we grew up emotionlessly digesting it as an absent referent.

Or is the death of an animal too unworthy for our exquisite puritan taste (especially in the critical age of the big identity cleansing)? But, in essence, our arrogant indolence is hiding a complete illiteracy for recognizing a monstrous physical elimination (pain) of another living being, which is repeating itself on almost every street in Skopje, but is not interesting enough for the morning bulletin, nor the evening news. Who cares for the “curs” who do not vote, have no citizen status, citizenship, address?! It is amazing how we have not been able to, for at least a moment, identify ourselves with them, taking how good we have for centuries been at playing the role of a “cur” in international relations, alliances and decisions; it is amazing how those who have been practicing the dog life for centuries have not been able to identify with it for a split second. It is amazing… When have we become Austrian-trained perfectionists regarding public hygiene (the suspicious schedule for Sunday baths after “Dynasty” springs to mind)? Even the pointless staring at the Alps pureness for years (“Schwarzwald Clinic”) did not manage to completely erase the primordial hygiene habits. If this remark seems radically low, let’s remind ourselves that we needed the threat of a deadly virus to put soap in our schools and (imagine!) hospitals! That is our most functional methodological principle; we are not able to even wash our hands without a death threat.

Speaking of threats… Do not panic! Stray dogs will not kill you; the actual garbage that We (garbage machines) throw, and They (“Public Hygiene”) do not clean, and is everywhere, is what is going to kill you. And it does not have four legs. When the City Administration plans the next cleaning of Skopje, let it start by cleaning the appalling conditions in the staging area. And let it stop killing dogs! As long as there are 36 dog-catchers to 1 vet, we will know that they haven’t stopped.

P.S. Where are we in the whole story? Tabula Rasa. The time has come for a new year’s trip. Staging area “Vardarishte”. On faeces, urine and damp, exhausted, traumatized, with not enough food and often without water, lying on the concrete floor, each cage stuffed with up to ten dogs, most of them sick with parvovirosis, distemper, and bronchopneumonia. If you get the feeling that something’s stuck down your throat, it’s good! That is the human-tourist combination in You who (absolutely uninformed about what is going on in his own city) may wish to take photos to pass on the ugly experience. Of course, your camera will be confiscated; as taking photos is prohibited (animal rights activists have already tried, the same that have offered the City to volunteer for free, and have been refused)… Where are we in the whole story?... They don’t celebrate Hanukkah, Ilinden, Ramadan or Christmas; they will only celebrate the day they are freed from the staging area… Open for adoption of dogs every Friday and Saturday (9 am-12pm). Take out whatever is stuck down your throat. We have had a way too long a tourist season in our own city.

Purpose of ...if any money will be collected... is to Try To OPEN a Private (No Kill) Shelter for stray dogs, to hide them(and to care of them), from BAD ordinary and non-ordinary-GOVERNMENT PEOPLE...who were open a wide front with stray dogs and they are killing and killing them...doing a large, huge, massive massacre... :o(((

We know that we can't save all animals, not even stop the evel in this world...
We don't know how to assure you how reasonable is our cause and fight...we do our best to get people to know about the cruel savaged terrible truth, to get people learn about the equality between all beings in the world, but words are not enough...for all that we need money...

Pity...but nothing can be done without money...
For now We Have only Our Private Personal Pocket Money which we use to save a few dogs: for food, medical drugs, for vets, for transport, for collecting some material support from other concerned people like us...
We make a small improvised, illegal "shelters" http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=151860&id=176149692261 where we can hide them from sure death...where we take care of them with our resources (and it is very little, unfortunately)...because those pure dogs need a real medical treatment...they are tortured, hungry, ill and traumatized animals who need a lot of attention...than after all, we do everything to find them a good home (again all that with our own effort , how much we can stand with our poor personal financial situation...you can just imagine) :o(

Dear friend of animals,

We ask for your help again in order to stop the massive killing of the homeless dogs and the inhuman treatment in Skopje, in the holding facility Vardarishte. Despite all efforts to change the condition, nothing has been changed for better, there is no consideration for the reactions by the Macedonian citizens who are disgusted from the principle of massive killings, disgusted from the standards for the dogs stay in the holding facility Vardarishte, disappointed from the functioning of the facility. Although as a public institution it is obligated to operate transparently in front of the citizens, it hides public data, it is closed for public and for visits, except for the total 6 hours per week (of which 3h on Friday, from 9-12h when people are at work), there is prohibition of free movement within it, the recording and photographing are the most strictly prohibited in order for the glamorous camp photo of the 21st century not to be seen.

1. Currently, in the holding facility almost all small puppies are dying from freezing, pneumonia, viruses, because it is very cold and temperatures are below 0, and the holding facility is half closed type of facility, without any possibilities for working in winter! And the few dogs that have surgery done / sterilized, die because they are outside, freezing. The dogs lie on frozen water, frozen concrete, with no place to hide or get warm even for a moment. They continue washing the cages with heavy flows of water, without removing the dogs from cages. The dogs stay in the cages and die in tremendous torments! Simultaneously continues the practice of massive killing, officially around 70%, unofficially much more.

2. People who catch dogs are completely incompetent, rude bullies (with the exception of maximum 5 out of 36 dog catchers). Hunting massively, saying that there won’t be any dog on the streets, not even leaving the dogs that are quiet and for whom the people take care of, vaccinated, sterilized….They say that it has been ordered and that every stray dog is to be caught - believe it, there is massacre and genocide, and only in Skopje there are around 10 000 homeless dogs!

3. The dog-catchers also carry bats while catching, going in 8 teams, in three shifts, with unmark vehicles, massively and roughly catching a part of the dogs, and part of the dogs they don’t even take them to the holding facility but surely kill them in other places - for this we testimonials by citizens whose dogs have been caught and who had gone the same day to look for their dogs. However, the dog-catcher have been telling them that their dogs had not been caught (despite the photographs of the dogs being caught) or that they have been adopted, of course, without giving them information about location!

4. The latest strategy in the holding facility is that on every cage they put papers on which it is written that the dog is too aggressive - we claim that it is a disgusting lie in almost all cases, because they never want to say who concretely (including name, analysis and evaluation) has put the paper. Believe me, almost all dogs marked like this, even those who are so dear, peaceful, social, with randomly written label - AGGRESSIVE to justify the killing, declared without any official document to show, official evaluation by competent person. This is the main excuse for the death of almost 90% of caught dogs, dogs that we didn’t manage to save.
Despite all our reactions, calls, meetings with the authorities, organized protest (under the slogan No to Bloody Skopje), we fail to stop or change anything, we have never succeeded anything because obviously this is a fixed defined "strategy" for solving the problem of excessive dogs population. There is no holding facility on the entire Macedonian territory, where the CNR program should performed! Instead, here rules the system of massive poisoning, dog tournaments, torture, murder with guns. Please help us in any way, please start to put pressure once and for all to put an end to the violent and extremely cruel principle - we will do everything for this to be stopped, everything that you think that could and should be done. We ask for your support because without assistance from abroad, the struggle for salvation and life of over 10 000 dogs in Skopje, and many more in other places in Macedonia, is lost in advance.

Please also give a support to the local macedonian animal protection organizations "Anima Mundi" (anima.mundi.sk.mk@gmail.com) and "SRNA" and indipendent activists for animal protection , because they are doing their best to stop this madness!
